WelcomeWelcome to MetronsChair.com - an open petition for Mattel to add light-up features on Metron's Chair (the DCUC Subscription exclusive for 2012). What is this web site about? As mentioned above, the goal of this web site is to petition Mattel to add battery-operated light-up features on the Mobius Chair which is part of the Club Infinite Earths exclusive Metron figure to be released next year. Why? Perhaps the question that needs to be asked is "why not?" Mattel has in the past included battery-operated features on their exclusive figures' packaging. These include: SDCC exclusive DC Universe Classics Wonder Twins set SDCC exclusive DC Super Heroes White Man-Bat figure So, is the light-up feature completely outside the boundaries of Mattel's capabilities? Certainly not. The exclusive figure won't be available until 2012 - we think there is plenty of time for Mattel's design team to work this idea into the blue print. If they can do it for past figures' packaging, they can certainly do it for future figure accessories. What can I do to help the petition? If you are one of those who purchased the Club Infinite Earths subscription, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us. As our number grows, we hope Mattel will take note and strongly consider this idea.
Metron & the Mobius ChairMetron is a character created by Jack Kirby for his Fourth World series in DC Comics. He was "based on Leonard Nimoy as Spock", and designed as a character who "would frequently change sides [between New Genesis and Apokolips]".[1] He first appeared in New Gods #1 (February–March 1971). Although he possesses the powers of a god, Metron is typically depicted as a passive observer in the DC Universe rather than an active participant, somewhat akin to the Watchers from Marvel Comics stories. He wanders in search of greater knowledge beyond his own, riding on his Mobius Chair, which can traverse time and space instantaneously. Metron is of neither New Genesis nor Apokolips, and usually avoids the struggle between the two worlds almost entirely. As he states in New Gods #7, "The Pact,": "I have no link with the Old Gods -- or New!! I am something different! Something that was unforeseen!! -- On New Genesis -- or here!!" Metron has demonstrated numerous god-like abilities somewhat inconsistently throughout his history. However, he is most well known for the use of his Mobius Chair. Powered by the "X Element", which at times he has bartered with Darkseid for,[5] the chair enables him to traverse time and space in his endless pursuit of knowledge. Metron is also a super-genius who has explored the universe and gained a vast amount of knowledge.
Frequently Asked QuestionsAre we guaranteed to get the light-up features if we hit X number? Firstly, there is no magic X number to hit. And no, there are no guarantees. This is simply an open petition. Decision on the final product is solely Mattel's to make.
If there is no guarantee, why even bother trying? Because it's better than could've, should've and would've - after the fact. At least in trying, there is always a possibility of the unexpected.
I don't want my Metron's chair to have the light-up features. What do I do? It's the general assumption that Metron will not have the light-up features. So there is nothing to do.
In your artist's rendition, there is a Kirby Krackle background and Metron is hovering. Will we get those features, too? That's probably pushing it. As it is, the light-up features is already asking for a lot from Mattel.
Won't there be shipping problems because these are battery-operated? The restriction only applies to battery-operated items with the batteries installed. Mattel can package these minus the batteries. Sources:
